Halloween...Last Minute

For all you procrastinators like me, here are some spooktacular (I'm sorry, I had to) last minute ideas to celebrate with. Each item takes only a few minutes to make and include things that you generally have on hand.

2 ingredients? Doesn't get much easier than this!

Mummy Dogs
1 pack of hot dogs
1 can of crescent rolls
Ketchup and Mustard

Start by cutting each crescent roll into strips. Wrap the strips around each hot dog, making sure to overlap some so as to get the mummy effect. (You should use 1 crescent roll for each hot dog). Place on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes at 350 degrees. Using a toothpick, dot ketchup or mustard on for eyes. Serve with veggies sticks or Monster Guts (aka Carrot Salad).

A great drink that can be enjoyed by adults, or (minus the alcohol) kids. I mean, who doesn't like worms crawling out of their drinks??!

Vampire Brew
2 liters ginger ale or sprite
64 oz. cranberry juice (I have found the pomegranate flavor to be best)
1 1/2 c. vodka (plain or citrus flavored)

Gummy worms
Fruit punch (I use the Crystal Light version)

First prepare your gummy cubes. Using a empty ice tray, place a gummy in each cube. Next cover with the fruit punch, and then freeze until solid or about 4-5 hours.

To make the drink, combine the ginger ale, juice and vodka in a punch bowl. Serve over the gummy cubes for a creepy crawly good time (the cheesiness of these lines is out of control!I promise that was the last one)

Pumpkin Cheese ball
8 oz. package of cream cheese, softened
1 c. shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 package of onion soup mix
1 tsp. chili powder
Celery and leaves (for the "stalk")
Crackers, apple slices and pretzel sticks (witches broom sticks?anyone??anyone??)

Combine the first four ingredients and stir until well mixed. Roll up in plastic wrap and form into a ball shape. Refrigerate until firm, at least 2 hours. Place on a serving plate and use a knife to make deep cuts into the ball so as to give the image of a pumpkin. Finish by inserting a piece of celery and celery leaf into the top. This tastes best served with apples, pretzels and crackers, but feel free to use other things such as bread, celery, or broccoli.

Halloween has the easiest dessert options...just walk down the candy aisle. Some personal favorites?? Candy corn and these Pumpkin Creme Hershey Kisses.

Happy Halloween!
