Daydreaming-Destinations

I love traveling as much as I possibly can. Long weekends are especially great for a quick break from the everyday norm, whether you go an hour away or a flight away.

Although this long weekend will be spent primarily on wedding details (picking a date, looking at venues & selecting colors), I will always have time to think about planning a trip or dreaming of some far away escape.

In following with that thought process, I decided to list the top 5 on my list of places to go.

1. The Maldives

2.  Bali

3. Skiing in the Alps

4. A safari

5. Italy (especially the Amalfi Coast)

Hope you all enjoy your long weekend, whether your going somewhere or dreaming of the places you want to go :)

Traveling....Again

While we are on the subject of traveling, I thought I would cover the necessities that should be in your carry-on bag.

The Rundown

2. Lotion (not only great for dry skin, but also to tame fly-aways)
5. Tide Pen (I some how always spill something...I like to think its the turbulence!)
7. Tums
8. Cough Drops (Going through different climates can sometimes give me a scratchy throat)
9. Emergen-c (a cure all + energy boost...much needed after 6 hour+ flights)

         10. Eyelash curler
         11.Tweezers
         12. Nail files
         13. Band-aids

14. Eye-mask & ear plugs (to drown out the hodge-podge of noise that can occur on a plane)
18.Concealer (This is an all time fav....so compact & light, but covers well & lasts forever)
22. Ponytail holders and bobby pins
24. Mini Nail Polishes (I like to have a clear polish on hand as it's good for fixing stocking runs or putting threads that decide to unravel back into place)

It may look like a lot, but throughout all my travels I have always found a use for one or more of these items (although I can find a use for anything 'mini'...they are such a cute size!) and have realized I need to just keep them on hand....I mean hey, you never know when you're going to have to avert something catastrophic (like a flyaway hair, or a broken nail) right??

My favorite place to find travel sized items are herehere, or here or if you live in NYC, Bed, Bath & Beyond has an awesome selection.

Happy travels!

Traveling Times

I feel like I've been traveling this whole month, so when I was thinking of inspiration for today's post, the obvious thing was to talk about traveling in style && of course in comfort (no heels or skin tight leather pants here....I still have yet to understand that one).

There are a few essentials that I always reach for when I am about to go away:

1. Leggings- Comfy, easy to put on, easy to pack, and they go with almost everything. American Apparel's are great because they don't lose their shape.

2. A great oversized, comfy tee, sweatshirt or tank- Something you can layer and that allows you to move and be flexible. LNA has some great ones as does Forever 21. I am particularly liking this one.

3. A sweater- I always get cold on planes so a sweater is a must, even if I'm going to a warmer location. I prefer something of more a cardigan style for easy on and off. This is one I frequently take as the neutral color goes with everything, it's thin enough to fold up and go into a purse, and it's still will keep me warm. (Bonus it's only $11.50!)

4. Maxi dresses/skirts- These is a great alternative if you are going somewhere warm. (I wore this on the plane from Barbados).

5. Socks-I mean, duh! You can not make yourself more comfortable on a plane than with some fuzzy socks. In my opinion, the fuzzier the better. These are great and they are on sale for only $2.99!!

6. Easy Shoes- And by easy, I mean ones that slip on and off. Again, who wears heels to the airport?? Going through security is a hassle enough with out having to worry about getting shoes on and off. I prefer slip-ons and flip flops. Right now I can not live without a pair of these and are a key travel piece.

7. Accessories- I like things that add a nice touch without being to stuffy or getting in the way, think scarves, hats, and watches (These look so chic, yet fun & comfortable and they have several colors to choose from).

Things to avoid well traveling: heels, leather anything, short dresses, skin tight anything, big chunky jewelry, and big earrings (not so good when you lean against the side to sleep...ouch!)

Key West

October is a crazy busy traveling month for me, as in I think I should have just moved to the airport until November....seriously!

First up, was a weekend college reunion trip with my girls to Key West. This was my first time there and we all had a blast! My only regret? I didn't get to try Key Lime Pie ( I know, I know...I'm in the Keys and no Key lime pie...that's almost a sin!).

We stayed at the Double Tree Grand Key Resort, which I would highly recommend if only for the warm, delicious chocolate chip cookies they give you whenever you want (literally whenever....we tested this at 3 am just to check and sure enough we got our cookies!).

The first night was gorgeous out! We spent the night exploring and dancing our way around downtown Key West, stopping by some local favorites like Sloppy Joe's and Rick's (great for dancing!).

The next day was spent soaking up the rays at the amazing pool....

making frenemies with barracudas....

and at the beach, doing the normal things, like ooo ya know, making pyramids.

This was the navy ship that was being commissioned on Saturday night.

And our last night in the Keys  started with a sunset booze cruise (Fury Water Adventures), that included unlimited drinks. Yes, you heard me right, I said unlimited....obviously, the best decision of the trip. We concluded the cruise with dinner at Cheeseburger Paradise, and yes, it was indeed paradise. My burger came loaded with guacamole, bacon, caramelized mushrooms and onions, 2 kinds of cheese....and a heart attack. Mmmmm!

Beautiful ending to a short, but wonderful trip!

*I was not paid to endorse any of these places, just wanted to share with everyone, in case you want to go to Key West and need ideas of places to go*
